Sand Dollar Designs was founded by Susan Ohrenberger McCowan.  Sue, a 1987 graduate of Boston College, left a career in business to find a more fulfilling creative outlet and to enable her to remain at home with her children, providing necessary care for her daughter Kelly who has Down Syndrome and Autism.
Sue and her husband Dave, a software engineer, live in Scituate, Massachusetts and have 3 children and 2 black labrador retrievers:  twin daughters, Sarah and Kelly who are 18 years old, Anna, Age 10, whom they traveled to China to adopt in 2006, and Lollie and Ruby their 2 dogs.  
Sue converted the formal living room of her childhood home into a studio and is the designer and creator of her own collection of fine handcrafted jewelry.  The entire Sand Dollar Designs collection is created with the finest materials such as Swarovski crystals, semi-precious gemstones, pearls, hand blown beads and sterling silver
