Bare Cove Pottery
Britt Drews makes functional pottery out of durable stoneware clay. She can be found working out of her home studio, or throwing on the wheel at the Harvard Ceramics Program where she is thrilled to be currently taking a class to further her understanding of clay, and different types of firings. She also spent over a year as the wheel-throwing instructor at Fuller Craft Museum. Britt is very interested in the functionality of her work and thinks there is nothing better than trying to make pieces of pottery people will love using. Britt is inspired by texture and also Scandinavian design. Her Grandparents emigrated to the US from Sweden and their house was a treasure trove of mid-century Swedish design.
Britt lives in Hingham with her husband, three young children, an "energetic" rescue dog named Winston, and a little flock of backyard chickens.
Prior to having children Britt was a public elementary school teacher and also worked at a University mentoring new teachers in underserved areas of Chicago but has always had her hand in clay and finally threw herself into pottery and hasn't looked back!
