Erin Merchant MacAllister
The Paper Merchant handmade paper products "Erin Merchant MacAllister makes paper from scratch, creating unique and colorful paper products, including cards, envelopes, custom-made lamps, gift card enclosures, wedding and bridal shower invitations, guestbooks, and announcements for special events. “I very much like the idea of functional art,” she said. “In fact, I made my own wedding invitations in 2003, which matched my tangerine-colored wedding dress. Orange is my favorite color!” She and her husband, Patrick, got married on the beach at Humarock. The use of the word “Merchant” (her maiden name) in the title of her business was deliberate. “My Dad suggested it,” MacAllister said. "The handmade albums and journals she crafts are blank inside. “I like the idea that I can create something beautiful that will then go on to be a tool for someone else’s creativity or memories,” she said. A tag with the slogan, “Thoughtfully created for your personal inspirations,” is attached to each of her works. “Some people think the paper is too nice to write on, but it’s really just paper!” MacAllister said. She learned the art from papermaking and bookbinding courses she enrolled in while attending the School of the Museum of Fine Arts." (from WickedLocal.com) |
